Tom Campbell’s TOE: let’s get technical
Tom Campbell, a former NASA nuclear scientist, is known for his strong views on philosophy and in particular, his ‘theory of everything’ concept. Campbell often delves into simulation theory, which is at the heart of his teachings, with his own interpretation and technical understanding of our reality.
Campbell has amassed almost 100,000 followers on Youtube and his videos have become a point of interest in the simulation theory community. With a very technical background, Campbell has the ability to turn more fluffy, imaginative theory into something more solid with technical underpinnings.
In his videos, Campbell discusses all kinds of subjects that relate to simulation theory and life as a whole, and makes a coherent attempt at trying to explain the seemingly unexplainable.
Interestingly, Campbell views our reality akin to that of life inside a VR (virtual reality) headset, much like other eminent researchers, including Donald Hoffman, a cognitive scientist who has been featured on Simulation.com. He offers a technical interpretation of this VR scenario on his website.
Campbell sees us as conscious agents of a larger system (the LCS) with the idea that over time the system will decrease in entropy (become less chaotic). He posits that our sense data is nothing more than a feed, or stream of information, which explains dreams and out of body experiences. The physical aspects of the world aren’t actually physical at all. Campbell believes everything we know is virtual, including the avatar or character players we represent.
What is real is our consciousness, which determines the choices the player makes. Campbell believes that each person has an individual server of sorts where their choices, potentially over lifetimes, are recorded and their evolution is taking place.
Whatever your take, Campbell is an interesting person to listen to and with a backbone, his theory is more intelligible.
