Life and purpose, recent findings
I’ve been going through a turbulent time over the last few months and lost my motivation to blog. It didn’t stop me from learning as every day I’ve been digging in to the nature of reality and our purpose on planet Earth.
In my personal life I have made a few major changes and with that comes lots of side-effects, withdrawal from meds and the awakening process. ‘Waking up’ can sound pretentious but in reality, it’s a sometimes dark and lonely journey. There’s nothing superior in choosing this path (‘unplugging’ would be the Matrix analogy) but is it a worthwhile road to take? Absolutely.
What brought about such a fundamental change in my perspective? Honestly, I was fed up with living my life like I was inside a washing machine. Life can chew you up and spit you out if you try to fight it.
Great masters deliberated the meaning of life for centuries. Eventually they found out the cause of suffering. It’s desire. Wanting things. Having a preference system. This kind of goes into the duality versus non-duality debate. As long as you have a psyche that you keep building on top of, you’re going to be disappointed, righteous and constantly at the mercy of life. What is the solution? Surrender. What does that practically mean though?
Michael Singer has been the single greatest teacher in my life. I have listened to over 100 hours of him talking, and it all started by sheer coincidence (yeah right?) with me finding his ‘Surrender Experiment’ book on Amazon. It was a game-changer. Surrender and giving in to life does not mean renouncing life. It doesn’t mean you don’t interact with the world. It just means that you’re fine with whatever cards life deals you, and instead of complaining about it, you look for the lessons it’s trying to teach you, or better yet, figure out how you can best serve the moment.
I recently was starting to believe the narrative that we are stuck on Prison Planet – it’s a Reddit thing, so the rabbit hole goes deep. When life feels dark, empty and devoid of meaning, it’s easy to think we are serving some horrible sentence. I also realized that the night is always the darkest right before dawn. The path is hard. Life is hard. Is it a virtual reality? Yes, probably. It’s not supposed to be easy. Most people never even ask these questions, which are the most important of all! What the hell are we doing here and what are we supposed to do? What’s the purpose? I believe it is waking up.
What does that mean? You wake up to the fact that you are not your ego, your psyche, this house of cards you’ve built and call your self-concept. It can change on a dime. How can you identify with something as shallow as that?
I’ve been reading a really interesting book too by Ivan Antic, Soul Guide On Planet Earth. I think he does a great job of explaining the difference of the mind/body and soul. Waking up is the realization that all of us are God descended. You don’t have to be religious to believe that. Sitting behind you, in the seat of consciousness (or witness consciousness), is you in there. The non-judgmental, peaceful true self. You can practice ideally through the lessons imparted by Michael Singer, especially on his Spotify podcasts, how to reclaim that state of being. It comes from staring less at this ego you have become identified with. That is the source of friction in this world.
I now see life indeed as a place where souls go to evolve. It’s dark at times. It’s very likely our energy is being harnessed by hyper-dimensional entities as old as creation itself. In hard times, it feels like a punishment, but if there was no turbulence, would anyone ever learn? I will wrap this up by saying, I feel in a much more positive place. I have myself felt the Shakti (energy) flowing, like never before, from listening to his advice. Letting go of all the stored junk in your ego is a life-long pursuit, but it is rewarding. Even though life can be chaotic, whenever you can, try to sit back in witness consciousness in a state of unconditional love, toward everything. There is no separation. It sure doesn’t feel that way, so that one is tough to wrap your head around. If you can genuinely start to practice that state of being, though, everything changes. Acceptance of reality, not desire and expectation of what it should be. Singer likens reality to life in a VR headset (good analogy for us). The great masters learned when to put it on and when to take it off at will. Most people are stuck staring at their personal mind (their false VR reality) which takes them away from the Kingdom within (VR off, the seat of witness consciousness). The Bible wasn’t lying when it said that.
Anyway, as Singer says, ‘I’m back!’ (say this when you wake up in the morning) and enjoy everything, try to understand and accept life the way it is. Let go of the past, let go of worrying about the future, try to go with the flow and your life will get easier. It’s achievable and progress is not linear. Commit to the cause and you’re going to change in a massively positive way.
